About Michelle
Michelle Monk: Clinical Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist: DFSH | HPD
Accredited NCH | CNHC | AfSFH
People usually come to me when they’ve had enough of feeling ruled by anxiety or stress, or they’re stuck in habits and behaviours that feel hard to change.
My background is a little unusual, I’m both a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and a Pilates teacher. And I’ve seen the same pattern in both worlds, people underestimate what their body and brain are capable of.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works in a similar way; we look at what you want to achieve, what’s already working, and the small steps that move you forward, using science-backed techniques and hypnosis.
Just as in Pilates, where people discover their body can do more than they expected, my clients begin to realise their brain isn’t fixed in one mode and you can adapt and change.
We don’t stay stuck in the problem, and we don’t need to dig up the past. The work I do is about helping your brain shift towards solutions and progress, so you start seeing options you may not have considered before.
I trained with The Clifton Practice, one of the UK’s leading schools for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, where I earned both my Level 4 Diploma (DSFH) and the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD). I am fully insured and have enhanced DBS certificate

Work With Michelle?

Before I found this work, I spent years navigating anxiety and a spinal condition that forced me to rethink how I lived, worked, and moved.
Those challenges guided me towards Pilates, and later a deeper understanding of the brain (I am a bit of a neuroscience nerd). I share this because I genuinely understand what it’s like to want change and not know where to start.
I made a series of small, realistic changes that helped me manage my back pain, quit smoking, lose 30kg, and let go of my fear of public speaking.. all while navigating the challenges of menopause. That lived experience shapes the way I support others, along side my professional training.
My role is to help you understand your brain so you can work with it, and to support you as you move in the direction you want to go.
